Welcome! My name is Ismail Eldessouky, I am based out of the U.S. and I have a degree in Computer Science and a degree in Cognitive Science. What I am most passionate about is the crossroads between those two fields, i.e. understanding the mind via computation, and understanding computation via the mind. Technology & Computation
The driving force of civilization is effective communication. Lucky for us, communication across vast distances has never been so easy. But simplicity on the users end does not necessarily imply simplicity on the backend. On the contrary, these simple means of communication often take complicated computation to be made possible. It is the job of computer scientists to maintain the structures that hold societies webs of communication in tact. From Web Development to Data Management, I have commited myself to understanding the tools at my disposal to help humanity stay connected.
Web Development
Languages: HTML, CSS, Javascript, React
The lifeblood of the internet, without website development and maintenance, there would be no worldwide communication. I have personally developed a number of websites for various business and individuals looking to advertise.
Above is my teams submission to RAISE-25, a national competition that asked contestants to incoorporate their knowledge in Data Management, AI Development, and various other relevent concepts in computer science. We placed second, but if you ask me, I feel we were snubbed. Our presentation was by far the most in depth and complex.
Software Development
Languages: Java, Python, C++, Node, ReactJS
The majority of my computer science degree was spent perfecting my understanding of various programming languages. By creating dozens of demo projects I was able to successfully sharpen my programming proficiency.
Data Management
Languages: SQL, R, Ruby, Command Line
Data collection is useless without data management. Through the utilization of various analysis tools, I’ve learned to translate unintelligeble clusters of data into helpful datasets and graphs.

With tech specifically I like to provide my services to whoever is in need. The world is becoming increasingly tech oriented, and its important for those of us who are keeping up. Neuroscience & Human Cognition
The Mind As An Information Processor
People usually need me to clarify to them what “Cognitive Science” even is. To put it simply, it is the study of the mind as an information processor. It is very much interdisciplinary, and so depending on how you choose to tackle the problem of “how does the mind work.” Cognitive Science can involve Neuroscience, Behavioural Psychology, Anthropology, Linguistics, and various other fields. My focus has been on the marriage of Cognition and Computational development. Computer Science, in its simplest form, is creating algorithms to accomplish tasks, which is exactly what our minds do when reasoning through things. It follows then, that if we gain a proper understanding of what algorithms work the best and what contexts, then we can understand how our minds go about solving problems, and vice versa.
This is the accumulation of my work with Dr. Arnold Glass and Dr. Margaret Ingate at Rutgers university. It communicates the research we conducted with EEG Machines, and the results we gathered based on those findings. We are hoping to officially publish our findings in the coming months.
Music & Audio Engineering
Ever since I was young, music has been something that speaks to me. I couldnt sit at a table without playing some drum pattern with my hands. In my adult life, this passion has evolved alongside my love for technology, and turned into a deep appreciation for the processe of creating and editing recorded music. I regularly work at a recording studio nearby my university where local artists come in to record their work. It is an unfortunate truth that much of the music that is recorded does not end up being released, but I thought it’d be nice to share with you some of my personal favorites from the acts that did end up putting their music out. My involvment in the songwriting process for these tracks vary; for some I would simply record what the artists asked me to record, whereas for others I played instruments and wrote lyrics. Playing an Instrument is a truly ethereal experience, and anyone lucky enough to have mastery over one knows that to be true. Thats why I’ve decided to put my skills to use and help others on their path to musical proficiency. I give lessons in Percussion and Piano, so if either of those speak to you, we should definitely make something happen!
Health & Nutrition
It is unfortunately all to common in the computer science community for people to, and I mean this in the most polite way possible, not take care of their bodies. Health and Nutrition has become an important part of my life because of this. It is also helpful that I have a distinct love for cooking and coming up with creative recipes. Now that I think about it, whipping up a dish is almost like moving through an algorithm, and debugging.
